Clean, Convenient & Delicious: Inside the Athletic Center’s New Healthy To-Go Meals

Heirloom Chicken Cobb Salad; Seared Salmon Citrus Quinoa Bowl; Chicken Basil Wrap with Vegetables & Hummus

For the first time ever, the Athletic Center is now offering convenient grab-and-go meals in the Pro Shop – and they are as delicious as they are good for your health.

“It can be hard for people to find quick, convenient meals that are actually clean, balanced, and supportive of their goals,” says Ashli Davenport, Director of Performance + Longevity. “Chef Prefontaine and I wanted to create options that make it easier for members to make a healthy choice without having to leave the Club or sacrifice quality and taste, while also aligning with the programming and wellness initiatives we offer in the Athletic Center.”

The new meals offer lean proteins with fresh vegetables and balanced ingredients, prepared by The Fort Worth Club culinary team with no seed oils and no unnecessary additives or overly processed ingredients. The menu lineup includes heirloom chicken cobb salad, seared salmon citrus quinoa bowl, and chicken basil wrap with vegetables and hummus.

“Nutrition is such a major part of achieving better health,” says Davenport. “We can provide the best training, recovery, and wellness services, but what members are eating throughout the day matters significantly. These meals help fill a real need for members who are busy, coming from a workout, heading back to work, or simply trying to stay consistent with healthier choices.”

“Healthy” does not equal “boring”

Eating well doesn’t mean only limiting calories or sticking to bland ingredients. Whole foods – such as lean meats and seasonal fruits and vegetables – can be exciting when prepared with a focus on flavor using fresh herbs, citrus, and quality fats. That was the premise behind the new grab-and-go meals, which focus on clean nutrition.

High quality lean protein is essential for building muscle strength, improving muscle recovery, providing energy for everyday tasks, improving metabolism, and feeling properly satiated. Seed oils – such as canola, soybean, and sunflower – undergo heavy industrial processing that many experts believe leads to chronic inflammation. Olive oil and avocado oil are healthier choices, praised for being rich in antioxidants. Seasonal fruits and vegetables provide vital nutrients.

“We really wanted to bring our wellness focus more fully into the entire member experience across the Club,” says Davenport. “And these meals help do that.”

Find the new healthy grab-and-go meals in the refrigerated case at the Athletic Center Pro Shop. Prices range from $15 to $17.
